소원을 한껏 안고 부푼 맘으로 마주한 생일 저녁의 딸기 생크림 케이크. 크리스마스이브의 부쉬 드 노엘(Buche de Noel). 맞잡은 두 손, 그리고 축복처럼 새하얗게 빛나던 웨딩 케이크. 발렌타인데이를 앞두고 당신을 생각하며 구웠던 내 생애 첫 가토 쇼콜라(gateau au chocola )…. 떠올려보면 특별했다고 기억되는 소중한 날들의 추억 속엔, 케이크가 자주 상징처럼 놓여있다. 마치 그것이 있어 비로소 그 특별함이 완성되었던 것처럼.
