It is called 'Masterpiece Theater', where only masterpieces are collected and screened.
The owner of the theater was very picky and only selected and played masterpieces that everyone acknowledged.
People's biggest concern was 'Which work will be in theaters this time?'
Everyone debated endlessly to find an answer to the question 'Which work meets the criteria for a masterpiece'.
When the owner's own standards were added to people's evaluation, there were not as many works that could be screened as expected.

Enough time has passed that rivers and mountains have changed, and the world has also changed with it.
People's consideration of 'what kind of work is a masterpiece' has gradually diminished,
The more you think about it, the more you appreciate it, instead of the works that give you quick and simple fun.
Naturally, the streets were filled with stimuli that could be felt right away.

옛날 옛적 언젠가, 이름 모를 어떤 거리에 한 극장이 있었다.
명작들만 모아 상영한다는, 이름하여 '명화 극장'.
극장의 주인은 굉장히 깐깐하여 누구나 인정해 마지않는 명작들만 고르고 골라 틀었다.
'이번엔 어떤 작품이 극장에 걸릴까?'라는 문제는 사람들의 가장 큰 관심사였고,
'어떤 작품이 명작의 기준을 충족하는가'에 대한 해답을 찾기 위해 모두들 끝없이 토론하였다.
사람들의 평가에 주인 나름의 기준이 더해지면 상영할 수 있는 작품은 생각보다 많지 않았다.

강산이 변할 만큼의 시간이 흘러, 세상도 함께 변해 갔다.
'어떤 작품이 명작인가'에 대한 사람들의 고찰은 점차 뜸해졌고,
곱씹을수록 그 진가를 알 수 있는 작품들 대신 빠르고 단순한 재미를 주는 것들이 유행하기 시작했다.
자연스레 거리는 당장 느낄 수 있는 자극들로 채워져 갔다.
얼마만큼의 시간이 더 흘러
그저 시간을 때우기 위해 극장을 찾는 이가 더 많아져 갈 때쯤,
깐깐한 주인의 자부심이었던 '명화 극장'은 어느 날 거리에서 조용히 사라졌다.

새로운 세기가 시작되었다.
어떠한 유행, 그리고 그것보다 더 자극적인 새로운 유행이 생겨나고 소멸하는 과정이 여러 번 반복되고 난 다음,
우연한 계기로 몇몇 이들이 이제는 잊혀진, 오래된 명작들을 접하게 되었다.
그들 중 일부는 이러한 생각을 하였다.
'이거 생각보다 엄청 좋잖아?'
반복되는 유행의 탄생과 죽음에 지친 그들은 주변 사람들에게 그 작품들을 권하기 시작했으며,
어느새 비슷한 사람들이 모여 이제는 구하기도 힘든 명작들을 공유하고 돌려보기 시작했다.
그리고 마침내, 옛날 옛적 언젠가 이름 모를 어떤 이들이 그러했던 것처럼,
그들은 몇 날 며칠을 오래된 명작들에 대해 이야기했고 그 과정 자체에서 오는 즐거움을 알아가기 시작했다.

오래된 명작들을 탐구하는 사람들이 늘어 간다는 소문이 돌던 어느 날
꽤 오랜 시간 동안 버려져 있었던 거리 모퉁이 건물에 극장이 하나 들어선다는 이야기가 들려왔다.
요즘 유행하는 것들과는 다른, 아주 오래된 명작들을 상영하는 극장이라고 했다.

새로운 극장이 처음으로 문을 열던 날
그리 많지 않은 이들이 첫 상영작을 보러 모여들었다.
다들 어딘가 들떠 보였고, 어떤 작품이 상영될지에 대한 이야기를 하고 있었다.
매표소에서 나름대로 분주하게 움직이는 이는
조용히 사라졌던 '명화 극장'의 깐깐한 주인이었다.

상영 시작 전 극장 주인이 무대에 올라, 자리에 앉은 이들에게 말했다.
"참으로 오랜만입니다. 그간 수많은 갈림길을 앞에 두고, 많은 고민을 했어요.
결국 제가 내린 결론은, 내가 사랑했던 명작들을 다시 상영해야겠다는 것입니다.
갈림길에서 앞으로만 걸어 나가며 만난 수많은 이야기들이 지금부터 함께 할 작품들에 고스란히 담겨 있습니다.
누군가는 한물갔다고, 또는 지루하기 짝이 없다고 말할 이 작품들을 나는 다시 한번 틀어 보려 합니다.
어쩌면 이 세기가 끝나기 전에 두 번 다신 열리지 않을,
