After making everything, I felt that something was floating in general. Once the lyrics were like that. The story of a person who doesn't know what he did wrong, doesn't know how far he'll go, doesn't know envy, and it's enough just to stay still, and eventually let go. Floating life without treading ground.

Another thing, there is no bass on this album. It wasn't that I didn't want to put it in from the beginning, but once I recorded my voice all the way and added only the minimum necessary sounds to make it, all five songs became music without bass. Floating music without treading ground.


1. What did I do wrong?
For no reason, pain is bound to come. Even in such a case, you are bound to wonder about the cause of the pain.

2. How far will I go
One day, I suddenly thought that I could live like a person who has lived all over the world.

3. I'm not envious
What is the greatest boast that overcomes all boasts? The proud royal straight flush? Aha, you must be proud that you are not envious!

That is something I often say to myself. I really wanted to write it as a lyric. The moment I wrote this sentence and was about to write the second line, I was talking to myself again. I just need to stay, but why do you keep doing that?

I lived in Paju for two years from the time the band wrapped up until I started making this album. If you were free, you were free, if you were free, you were free, and if you were lonely, you were lonely. Whenever I sing or listen to this song, I picture in my mind the clear sky I used to sit at home and look at. Those were the days that literally floated and flowed.

다 만들어놓고 보니 대체로 뭔가 붕 떠있는 느낌이었다. 일단 가사가 그랬다. 뭘 잘못한 건지 모르고, 얼마나 갈지 모르고, 부러움을 모르고, 가만 있으면 그만이고, 결국 다 떠나보낸 사람의 이야기. 디딜 땅을 잃은 채 둥둥 뜬 삶.

또 한 가지, 이 음반엔 베이스가 없다. 처음부터 안 넣으려던 건 아니었는데, 일단 내 목소리부터 쭉 녹음하고 더 필요한 최소한의 소리만 요것저것 추가해서 만들다보니 다섯 곡 모두 베이스 없는 음악이 되어버렸다. 디딜 땅을 잃은 채 둥둥 뜬 음악.


1. 뭘 잘못한 걸까요
아무 이유 없이도, 고통은 찾아오기 마련이다. 그런 경우에도, 고통의 이유는 궁금해지기 마련이다.

2. 얼마나 가겠어
어느 날 문득, 내가 살아봐야 얼마나 살아봤다고 세상 다 살아본 사람처럼 사나, 라는 생각이 들었다.

3. 부럽지가 않어
모든 자랑을 다 이기는 최고의 자랑은 뭘까? 자랑계의 로열 스트레이트 플러시는? 아하, 부럽지가 않다는 자랑이겠군!

4. 가만 있으면 되는데 자꾸만 뭘 그렇게 할라 그래
스스로에게 자주 하는 말이다. 가사로 꼭 한번 쓰고 싶었다. 이 문장을 쓰고, 두번째 줄을 쓰려는 순간, 나는 또 스스로에게 말하고 있었다. 가만 있으면 되는데 자꾸만 뭘 그렇게 할라 그래?

5. 다
밴드를 마무리한 뒤부터 이 음반을 만들기 시작할 무렵까지 이 년 동안 파주에서 살았다. 자유롭다면 자유롭게, 한가롭다면 한가롭게, 또 외롭다면 외롭게 지냈다. 이 노래를 부르거나 들을 때면 그때 집에 가만 앉아 쳐다보던 맑은 하늘이 마음속에 그려진다. 그야말로 붕 뜬 채 흐르던 나날들이었다.
