Lee Moon-se's 5th studio album (1988), which was selected as one of the top 100 Korean pop music albums, is the completion of the 'Lee Moon-se album trilogy' that took the popular music world by storm in collaboration with composer Lee Young-hoon, which began with the 3rd album (1985). For the two, who are considered a golden duo representing the 80s, this album reached their peak both musically and commercially. Lee Young-hoon's music mainly consists of elegant love songs with captivating poetic lyrics and excellent melodies. The songs he composed shined even brighter through the mouth of Lee Moon-se, who moved the hearts of listeners with a singing style that crossed lyricism and passion. It can be said to be a happy meeting in which Lee Young-hoon's beautiful lyrics and melody blend well with the strengths of Lee Moon-se's singing style.
This album, overflowing with beautiful ballad masterpieces representing the era, is a feast of masterpieces of Korean pop ballads. Hit songs that were simultaneously loved such as <Poetry for Poetry>, <Gwanghwamun Love Song>, and <Red Sunset>, as well as <Toward Gypsum Flower Memories>, <My Old Girlfriend>, <Tonight>, and <Portrait of Memory> >, <The Beginning of the End>, and <Love is Like a Ray of Sunshine>, are also good songs that are perfect for fall, when the emotional whirlwind of longing and memories swirls and the cool atmosphere fills the air. Changing the music industry's perception of popular music albums

However, Lee Moon-se's 5th album achieved a reversal by selling like crazy, as if ridiculing the situation. In the end, this album sold 2.58 million copies, comparable to the previous album, which set the record for the highest sales of a popular song album. This was the power of the public, which valued the content and quality of the music contained in the album rather than the price of the album. This album led to a large-scale change in perception across the music industry regarding popular song albums, which had been undervalued and sold at low prices compared to foreign pop song albums.

Provides a revolutionary turning point in the broadcasting industry
Due to the successive success of his albums, Lee Moon-se rose to the top by winning the Golden Disc Award for three consecutive years since 1986 and the MBC Top 10 Singer Award for two consecutive years in 1988 and 1989. Composer Lee Young-hoon was also recognized as the greatest hit composer, with all singers of his time wanting to have songs written by him. The high-quality pop ballads presented by the two brought about a seismic change in radio music programs at the time. 한국대중음악 100대 명반에 선정되었던 이문세의 정규 5집(1988년)은 3집(1985년)부터 시작된 작곡가 이영훈과 콤비를 이뤄 대중음악계를 강타했던 '이문세 명반 3부작'의 완결판이다. 80년대를 대표하는 황금콤비로 평가받는 두 사람에게 이 앨범은 음악적으로나 흥행적으로나 정점을 찍었다. 이영훈의 음악은 시적인 가사와 탁월한 멜로디가 매혹적인 격조 깊은 사랑 노래들이 주를 이룬다. 그가 만든 노래들은 서정과 격정을 넘나드는 창법으로 듣는 이의 마음을 움직인 이문세의 입을 통해 더욱 빛났다. 이영훈의 아름다운 가사와 멜로디가 이문세의 창법이 지닌 장점과 잘 어우러진 행복한 만남이라 할 수 있다.

이 앨범은 한 앨범에서 여러 곡이 동시다발적으로 사랑받았다. 전작들에 이어 연이은 메가톤급 히트로 인해 정규 5집은 선주문만 수십 만 장에 달했다. 이에 이문세의 차기작에 자신감이 넘쳤던 제작사는 대중가요 음반시장을 뒤흔드는 중대한 결정을 했다. 당시 대중가요 LP 음반가격은 3,300원. 킹레코드는 이문세 정규 5집의 가격을 가요 음반에 비해 가격이 비쌌던 팝송 음반과 같은 수준인 4,000원으로 전격적으로 인상했다. 갑작스런 음반가격의 인상 조치에 전국 소매상들은 불매 운동 움직임까지 일어났다.
가격인상에 대한 시장의 부정적인 움직임에 우려스런 분위기가 조성되었다. 하지만 이문세 5집은 그 같은 상황을 비웃듯이 오히려 날개 돋친 듯 팔려 나가는 반전을 이뤄냈다. 결국 이 앨범은 대중가요 음반 최다 판매기록을 세웠던 전작에 버금가는 258만 장의 판매고를 기록했다. 이는 음반 가격보다 앨범에 담긴 음악의 내용과 질을 중시하는 대중의 힘이었다. 이 음반을 계기로, 외국 팝송 음반에 비해 저평가되어 판매가격이 낮게 책정되었던 대중가요 음반에 대한 음반 산업계 전반에 대대적인 인식 전환으로 이어졌다.

방송계에도 혁명적인 전환점을 제공
