LUCY 3rd EP 〈INSERT COIN〉

LUCY, a band that always transcends the boundaries of genre, also clearly shows their wide musical spectrum with their 3rd EP.
Two tracks with the band LUCY's unique refreshing and warm atmosphere and two tracks with an intense sound that has never been shown before, it has a composition full of diverse and twists, like the front and back of a coin.
What remains constant despite such diverse compositions of sound sources is their message. Intensely or witty, they continually enable listeners to love themselves.
Just as 〈INSERT COIN〉 gives new life and takes on new challenges in a game over situation, they hope that their music will become a new spark for someone.

TRACK 01. No, but really
The LUCY team's signature refreshing strings, dazzling guitar, and bass line make it a lot of fun to listen to. The 8-bit retro game sound that appears at the right time perfectly fills the mood of the song.
The change in the beat along with the clap sound shows the progress of the song without being cliché, and the so-called side note added on top of it adds wit, giving it a sophisticated charm.
The lyrics written as if speaking to the person in front of you and the just-right sigh of frustration from the distrustful person create a lively scene, and the distribution of parts between the three vocalists with different charms tightens and loosens them to create a three-dimensional composition.

TRACK 02. Because I’m busy
This song is reminiscent of the opening of an animation that talks about youth, and the addictive riff and melody of the guitar and synthesizer are impressive.
The retro game sound adds a unique charm, and the repeated use of words with a sense of beat and rhyme creates a more rhythmic sound.
LUCY's unique wit was well expressed through the addictive lyrics and vocal effects that show people are busy hugging each other rather than growling at each other.

TRACK 03. Never in vain
The rocking sound of this song is impressive, as if it is a promise, and the vocals' singing, which pushes and pulls appropriately as if seductively, doubles the mood of the music.
This is LUCY's first genre and the lyrics are also written only in English, creating a mysterious feeling of unfamiliarity. The sound effect that seems to rush towards the listener, the ringtone that explodes at the end of the synthesizer and drum sounds that heighten tension, and the violin melody that follows create a scene from a movie.

By using the dubstep genre for the first time, LUCY shows a hard side that has never been shown before.
The vocal's effect sound and the vocal's singing style, which is different from usual and powerful, are impressive.
Intense sound and rushing violin playing as if facing the final round of the game with the opening of the curtain call. Every last bit of energy is poured out, creating an atmosphere of a spectacular ending.

매번 장르의 한계를 넘나드는 밴드 LUCY, 3번째 EP 또한 그들의 폭넓은 음악적 스펙트럼을 여실히 보여준다.
밴드 LUCY 특유의 청량하면서도 따뜻한 분위기를 지닌 2개의 트랙과 그동안 보여준 적 없는 강렬한 사운드를 동반한 2개의 트랙, 마치 동전의 앞면과 뒷면처럼 다양하고 반전 넘치는 구성을 지녔다.
이렇게 다양한 구성의 음원 속에서도 변하지 않는 것은 그들의 메시지다. 강렬하게 혹은 위트있게 그들은 지속해서 리스너 스스로 자신을 사랑할 수 있도록 한다.
게임 오버의 상황에서 〈INSERT COIN〉을 통해 새로운 목숨을 부여하고, 새로운 도전을 나아가는 것처럼, 그들의 음악이 누군가에게 새로운 불씨가 되길 바라고 있다.

LUCY 팀의 시그니처인 청량한 스트링에 현란한 기타, 베이스 라인이 담겨 듣는 재미가 꽉 차 있다. 적재적소에 등장하는 8bit의 레트로한 게임 사운드가 곡의 무드까지 빈틈 없이 메워준다.
클랩 사운드와 함께 비트에 변화를 통해 진부하지 않은 곡 진행을 보여주며, 그 위로 얹어진 소위 주접 멘트로 위트를 더해 세련된 매력을 선사한다.
마치 앞에 있는 상대에게 말하듯 쓰여진 가사와 믿지 못하는 상대가 답답한 듯 내뱉는 딱 적당한 한숨이 생동감 있는 장면을 그려내고, 각기 다른 매력을 지닌 세 보컬의 파트 분배를 통해 조이고 풀어내며 입체감 있는 구성을 선사한다.

TRACK 02. 바쁘거든
청춘을 이야기하는 애니메이션의 오프닝을 연상케 하는 곡으로, 기타와 신시사이저의 중독성 있는 리프와 멜로디가 인상적이다.
레트로한 게임 사운드가 톡톡 튀는 매력을 더하고, 비트감과 운율이 느껴지는 단어들을 반복적으로 사용하여 더욱 리드미컬한 사운드를 만들어냈다.
서로 으르렁거리기보다는 안아주기 바쁘다는 중독성 있는 가사와 보컬 이팩트를 통해 LUCY만의 위트를 잘 표현하였다.

락킹한 사운드가 인상적인 곡으로 다짐하듯 강렬하며, 유혹하듯 적절하게 밀고 당기는 보컬의 가창이 음악의 무드를 배가시키고 있다.
LUCY가 처음으로 선보이는 장르에 가사 또한 영어로만 구성되어 생경함이 신비로운 느낌을 자아낸다. 리스너에게 돌진하는 듯한 효과음과 긴장을 고조시키는 신시사이저와 드럼 사운드의 끝에서 터지는 벨소리, 이어지는 바이올린의 멜로디는 영화의 한 장면을 자아낸다.

TRACK 04. 채워
덥스탭 장르를 처음으로 차용하여 그간 LUCY가 보여준 적 없는 하드한 면모를 선보인다.
보컬의 이펙트 사운드와 평소와는 다른 강렬하게 뱉어내는 보컬의 창법이 인상적이다.
마치 커튼콜이 열리며 나타난 게임의 마지막 파이널 라운드를 마주하듯 강렬한 사운드와 질주하는 바이올린 연주. 마지막 에너지까지 모두 쏟아내고 화려한 끝을 맞이한 분위기를 자아낸다.
