IU's third mini-album [REAL], which has established itself as a leading female solo artist in the music industry with innate sensibility and singing ability, presents a trend in the music industry by making successive hits such as 'Abracadabra', 'Nagging', and 'Irreversible'. Producer Jo Young-cheol, who has been working with IU for a long time, and producer Choi Gap-won, who has been working with IU for a long time and understands IU's musical sensibility, co-produced. Most of the top artists in the domestic music industry, such as Jeon Seung-woo, PJ, and Min Woong-sik, participated.

This new album is an album that reflects IU's unaffected, natural, and true appearance as the album title [REAL] means. Ina's lyricist's work combined forces for IU once again.

'Good Day' is a song with a scale reminiscent of a musical, based on a grand yet dynamic sound centered on a cheerful melody, string arrangement and funky brass rhythm, and violin, brass, guitar, and organ solos with IU. The unique composition that is played in the form of receiving stands out. The lyrics of 'Good Day' depict the heartache of a girl who likes 'oppa' but is shy and unable to confess easily. Through 'Good Day', IU will present explosive singing skills and a performance depicting the shy cuteness of an 18-year-old girl, and will make the hearts of all 'oppas' across the country beat.

All the songs in this album are filled with high-quality songs that are comparable to the title feeling. First of all, composer Kim Hyung-seok's song 'Not Like This' is IU's first attempt at a Shibuya-type electronic medium song, and it stands out with a unique composition that flows throughout the song.

Kim Hyung-seok, who usually highly praised IU's emotional tone, brought IU's bright and sophisticated singing skills to life through this song. Yoon Jong-shin's work, 'The Night of the First Farewell', is a song about a girl's day that is hectic and embarrassing after a breakup. After working on this song, Yoon Jong-shin praised IU as a coveted singer with both musical sensibility and intelligence.

'A Room Alone', with a sensuous arrangement and sophisticated melody, is a song by composer Jeon Seung-woo, and you can feel IU's deeper tone and sophisticated vocals. In particular, IU participated in writing the lyrics for 'A Room Alone' along with lyricist Choi Gap-won, imbuing the whole song with the sensibility of an 18-year-old girl. The heartbreaking ballad number 'Slow Things' is a collaboration between composer PJ and Min Woong-sik, and lyricist Choi Gap-won wrote the lyrics. Shinsadong Tiger's 'Merry Christmas in Advance' is a confession song that IU presents to her fans, and MBLAQ's member Thunder, who has built a friendship with IU since she was a trainee, participated in the rap to give strength. 타고난 감성과 가창력으로 가요계를 대표하는 여성 솔로 아티스트로 자리매김한 아이유의 세번째 미니앨범 [REAL]은 ‘아브라카다브라’, ‘잔소리’, ‘돌이킬 수 없는’ 등을 연이어 히트시키며 가요계의 트렌드를 제시해온 조영철 프로듀서와 아이유와 오랜 시간 호흡을 맞춰오며 아이유의 음악적 감성을 잘 이해하고 있는 최갑원 프로듀서가 공동 프로듀싱을 맡았고, 여기에 윤상, 김형석, 윤종신, 최갑원, 이민수, 신사동호랭이, 김이나, Saint binary, 전승우, PJ, 민웅식 등 국내 가요계 최정상급 작가들이 대거 참여했다.

이번 새 앨범은 앨범타이틀인 [REAL]의 뜻 그대로 아이유의 꾸밈없고 자연스러운, 있는 그대로의 모습을 그대로 투영시킨 앨범으로, 타이틀곡인 ‘좋은 날’은 더 이상 설명이 필요 없는 히트메이커 ‘이민수작곡가?김이나 작사가’ 콤비의 작품으로 다시 한번 아이유를 위해 힘을 합쳤다.

‘좋은 날’은 마치 한 편의 뮤지컬을 연상시키는 스케일의 곡으로 경쾌한 멜로디와 스트링 편성과 펑키한 브라스 리듬 중심의 웅장하면서도 다이나믹한 사운드를 기본으로 전개하면서 바이올린, 브라스, 기타, 오르간 솔로가 아이유와 주고받는 형식으로 연주되는 독특한 구성이 돋보인다. ‘좋은 날’은 ‘오빠’를 좋아하지만 쉽사리 고백하지 못하고 부끄러워하는 소녀의 가슴앓이를 그린 가사는 첫사랑의 달콤하면서도 아릿한 감정을 순수하면서도 솔직하게 표현하고 있다. 아이유는 ‘좋은 날’을 통해 폭발적인 가창력과 18살 소녀의 수줍은 귀여움을 그린 퍼포먼스를 선보이며 전국의 모든 ‘오빠’들의 가슴을 뛰게 할 예정이다.
