JUNE's producing ability, shown in <Sing Again 2>, stood out by far. This is because in the singer audition program, the perfection of the arrangements alone created a competitive edge. The power to receive 'All Again' on the first stage and advance to the 4th round was his unrivaled arranging and producing ability. Seonghun of Brown Eyed Soul mentioned Jun in an interview not long ago. “The producer who could embody the sound I wanted was singer-songwriter Jun. There are many people who can imitate city pop or new jack swing, but few can really bring it to life in detail.” This is the part where you can gauge Jun's excellent producing ability.

Singer-songwriter Jun's music is characterized by sophisticated grooves. A stylish groove that sometimes flows quickly and sometimes slowly. It is based on R&B hip-hop, but shows off a wide musical spectrum and unfolds smoothly. The use of colorful instruments also stands out. It creates a warm groove by actively using real instruments rather than electronic instruments. He is a so-called 'perfect musician' with all kinds of musical abilities.

Jun's EP [LUV SIGN] contains five songs. It is an album that expresses the stages of love through five songs, and various emotions that confirm each other's hearts are released as 'signs of love'. 'If You Wonder', which opens the album's door, contains the first sign of love that begins to fall in love with the opposite sex. The jazz-style piano and guitar play creates a romantic atmosphere, and June's sweet voice is charming.

The following 'Someone' was with Choi Jeong-yoon. It expressed the excitement of men and women at the stage of thumb, and created a dramatic feeling by contrasting each other's voices. Choi Jung-yoon's clear voice was added, and the pure feeling of the song doubled.

The title song 'Got U' moves to the next stage of Some. I want to develop from a thumb to a lover, so I try to appeal from my point of view. <싱어게인2>에서 보여준 준 (JUNE)의 프로듀싱 능력은 단연 돋보였다. 가수 오디션 프로그램에서 편곡의 완성도만으로도 경쟁력을 만들어 냈기 때문이다. 첫 무대에서 '올 어게인'을 받고, 4라운드까지 진출할 수 있었던 힘은 그의 독보적인 편곡과 프로듀싱 능력에 있었다. 브라운 아이드 소울의 성훈은 얼마 전 인터뷰에서 준을 언급했다. “내가 원하는 소리를 구현해 줄 수 있는 프로듀서가 바로 싱어송라이터 준이었다. 시티 팝이나 뉴 잭 스윙을 흉내 낼 수 있는 사람은 많지만 막상 디테일하게 살릴 수 있는 사람은 몇 없다.” 준의 탁월한 프로듀싱 능력을 가늠해 볼 수 있는 대목이다.

싱어송라이터 준의 음악은 세련된 그루브를 특징으로 한다. 때로는 빠르게 때로는 느리게 넘실거리는 스타일리시한 그루브. R&B 힙합을 기반으로 하지만 넓은 음악 스펙트럼을 뽐내며 부드럽게 펼쳐낸다. 다채로운 악기 사용 또한 돋보인다. 전자악기 일색이 아닌, 리얼 악기의 적극적 활용으로 따뜻한 그루브를 만들어 낸다. 음악 전반의 능력을 두루 갖춘 이른바 '완성형 뮤지션'이다.

준의 EP [LUV SIGN]에는 다섯 곡이 수록되었다. 사랑이 이루어지는 단계를 다섯 곡으로 표현한 앨범으로 서로의 마음을 확인해 가는 여러 감정들을 '사랑의 신호'로 풀어냈다. 다섯 곡은 어느 한 곡 부족함 없이 앨범의 완성도를 높인다. 여러 빛깔이 한 데 어울려 아름답게 빛난다는 '오색찬란'이라는 말이 떠오른다.

앨범의 문을 여는 'If You Wonder'는 이성에게 호감을 느끼며 빠져들기 시작하는 사랑의 첫 번째 신호를 담고 있다. 재즈 스타일의 피아노와 기타 연주가 로맨틱한 분위기를 돋우며, 달콤한 준의 보이스가 매력적이다.

이어지는 'Someone'은 최정윤과 함께했다. 썸의 단계에서 느껴지는 남녀의 설렘을 표현했으며, 서로의 목소리에 대비되는 느낌을 주어 드라마틱한 느낌을 살렸다. 깨끗한 최정윤의 목소리가 더해지며 곡의 순수한 느낌이 배가 되었다.

타이틀곡인 'Got U'는 썸의 다음 단계로 나아간다. 썸에서 연인으로 발전시키고 싶어 본인의 입장에서 어필해 보는 내용. R&B 힙합 스타일의 곡으로, 음의 길이를 자유자재로 표현하며 유려한 리듬감을 만들어 냈다. 아기자기한 사운드를 꾹꾹 눌러 얹어 꽉 찬 사운드를 완성했다.

사랑의 단계는 'iMessage'로 이어진다. 서로를 알기 위해 문자라는 연락의 수단을 사용하지만 내 맘처럼 되지 않는 상황을 툴툴거리며 소심하게 말하는 내용이다. 곡의 처음과 끝에 자리한 메시지 효과음에서 준의 디테일 센스를 엿볼 수 있다.

마지막 곡 'Lullaby'는 사랑의 완성 단계다. 늦은 시간까지 연락하고 다음날을 기약하는 내용으로 꿈속에서도 편안하고 행복할 거라는 사랑의 마음을 표현했다. 막 사랑을 시작한 연인의 행복 충만한 잠자리가 그림처럼 스친다.

역시나 앨범의 모든 곡은 준이 직접 만들었다. 자신이 표현하고자 하는 느낌을 목소리로, 가사로, 멜로디로, 사운드로 완성해 내는 '완성형 뮤지션'. 컨셉과 스토리가 알차게 구성된 가치 있는 앨범이 완성될 수 있었던 이유다. (글/대중음악 평론가 이용지)
