Melody Day made a comeback after 9 months with their first mini-album [COLOR] filled with music that will make the hot summer cool. In this album, Melody Day, who mastered everything from trendy up-tempo dance to medium pop, modern rock, and ballads, worked hard to make the group's musical color even clearer by digesting various genres of music with their own colors. In addition, the members directly participated in lyrics and rap-making, as well as photos and illustrations, completing a meaningful album with the color of Melody Day deeply embedded in every corner of the album.
The mini-album [COLOR] is Melody Day's attempt to contain more musical colors. Member 'Chae Hee' participated in writing the lyrics for 'Paint Your Love' with a sophisticated medium pop style and splendid chorus line, and the title song 'Color' with an R&B bass melody line on top of a hip-hop based 808 drum sound. 'Satellite' with an impressive sound full of a sense of space as if you fell alone, 'I feel you, I feel you' with a groovy rhythm and a cool voice, and 'I hate you, I hate you', an authentic ballad depicting an unexpected reunion scene after a breakup, the album title [COLOR ], it boasts an attractive musical spectrum. And last winter, 'When It Rains', which was greatly loved by VIXX's rapper Ravi, was recorded as the last track.
The styling of the mini-album [COLOR], with the main concept of an eye-catching color girl, was styled in an ethnic festival look reminiscent of the Coachella Festival by Soo-kyung Suh, who is in charge of stylists for Girls' Generation, VIXX, and Akdong Musician. The charm of the Day members was melted in various colors. In addition, the music video for the title song 'Color' was directed by directors Kim Young-jo and Yoo Seung-woo of Naive Productions, who also directed Twice's 'CHEER UP', GOT7's 'Fly', and Akdong Musician's 'RE-BYE', creating a colorful image of Melody Day. Transformation was solved through unique storytelling. 멜로디데이가 뜨거운 여름을 시원하게 만들어 줄 음악들로 가득 채운 첫 번째 미니앨범 [COLOR]로 9개월만에 컴백했다. 이번 앨범은 트렌디한 업템포 댄스부터 미디움팝, 모던록, 발라드까지 섭렵한 멜로디데이는 다양한 장르의 음악들을 그들만의 색깔로 소화해내며 그룹의 음악적 컬러를 한층 더 선명하게 만드는 데 심혈을 기울였다. 또한 멤버들이 직접 작사와 랩메이킹은 물론 포토와 일러스트레이션까지 참여하며 앨범 곳곳에 멜로디데이의 색깔이 짙게 묻어 있는 의미 있는 앨범으로 완성했다.
미니앨범 [COLOR]는 멜로디데이의 더 많은 음악적 색깔을 담기 위한 시도가 녹아 있다. 멤버 ‘차희’가 작사에 참여한 세련된 미디엄 팝 스타일과 화려한 코러스 라인의 'Paint Your Love', 힙합을 베이스로 한 808 드럼 사운드 위에 R&B 베이스의 멜로디 라인 펼쳐지는 타이틀곡 ‘깔로(Color)’, 마치 우주에 홀로 떨어진 듯한 공간감 가득한 사운드가 인상적인 ‘Satellite’, 그루브 한 리듬과 시원한 보이스가 잘 어우러진 ‘널 느끼고 널 느끼며’, 이별 후 뜻밖의 재회 장면을 묘사한 정통 발라드 ‘미워 미워 미워’까지 앨범 제목 [COLOR]처럼 매력적인 음악적 스펙트럼을 자랑한다. 그리고 지난 겨울 빅스의 래퍼 라비의 피처링으로 큰 사랑을 받았던 '비가 내리면'이 마지막 트랙으로 수록됐다.
