- Your longing. Speaking of that pure waiting -

There are two people, Park Chang-hak and Park Ji-man.
The two met for the first time through the introduction of Lee Sang-soon of Roller Coaster. Lyricist Park Chang-hak, who is Yoon Sang's musical doppelganger and the mastermind behind the beautiful lyrics of domestic musicians such as Kim Dong-ryul and Jung Jae-il. Composer Park Ji-man, who was the music director for the movies 'Missing Love' and 'No Forgiveness'. The two talked about music, promising to work together someday, and suddenly came across the theme of poet 'Kim So-wol'. Poet Kim So-wol is a master of lyric poetry representing our country. Since then, Kim So-wol's works have become a medium that connects the relationship between lyricist Park Chang-hak and composer Park Ji-man, not by chance, but by necessity. 'What if we listen to his works as music with Kim So-wol's beautiful poetry as lyrics?'... This album began with Park Chang-hak's idea, and the melodies began to be created with Park Ji-man's 'thoughtful consideration'.

The melodies in the album were put on type like the 'movement of water' that flows somewhere without a set path. <Road>, <Bicycle>, <Sanyuhwa>, and <Picking Grass> flow gently on the stream, <Invocation>, <The Person in My Heart>, and <Tears Flow Slowly> flow narrowly but roughly and deeply on the stream, and <Your Words>, <Memory~A Deep, Deep Covenant>, and <To That Person> flow lonely and float down on the river in late spring. It's as if one writes one's longing for someone on a paper boat and floats it on water that resembles that feeling.


A total of 13 songs, each one carefully polished and one newly composed song. The two musical friends added their precious voices. Yoon Sang, Jung Soon-yong (My Aunt Mary), Harim, Kim Jung-hwa, Jung Jin-ha, Kim Tae-hyung, Ahn Shin-ae, Lee Ji-young (Big Mama), Jung Jae-il, Lee Han-cheol, Yong Jin (Casker), Jo Won-sun. The 14 songs completed in this way have now become an album and a poetry collection under the name [To That Person].

Poet Kim Sowol is a master of lyric poetry representing our country.

However, despite the title of 'master', his works calmly and delicately express the feminine and feminine nature and the most bottomless, unpolluted, and sediment-free sorrow that the human mind can contain with organized rhythm. 'Love' and 'longing', which are extremely universal emotions that people feel throughout their lives, are themes that best show what kind of poet Kim So-wol is.

Also, although it is not widely known, Kim So-wol's real name is Kim Jeong-sik, and his pen name So-wol means 'white cow' and 'moon' in Chinese characters. Among Kim So-wol's representative works, such emotions of the poet are well expressed in <Azalea>, <Your Words>, and <First Marriage>, and through this, it is easy to understand why Kim So-wol's literature is also interpreted as 'the aesthetics of shame'.

Sowol's poetry is like a textbook to me that shows the most perfect world that can be created by poetry in Korean. Also, most of his poems sing about love and longing, the most universal emotions in life, and they always have beautiful rhythms as the background, so they always make me imagine beautiful songs that I have never heard before. <Park Chang-hak>

'When I look at existing songs that were made from Kim So-wol's poems, I often see cases where the melody is too strong and fails to properly bring out his poems. The composition concept of this album is to 'take as much care as possible of Kim So-wol's poems. Not to deconstruct them as much as possible. I kept that in mind.' <Park Ji-man>

롤러코스터의 이상순의 소개로 처음 만나게 된 두 사람. 윤상의 음악적 도플갱어이자 김동률, 정재일 등 국내 뮤지션들의 아름다운 노랫말을 만들어낸 장본인인 작사가 박창학. 영화 '사랑을 놓치다' '용서는 없다' 등의 음악감독을 맡았던 작곡가 박지만. 두 사람은 언젠가 함께 작업할 날을 기약하며 음악적 이야기를 나누다가 문득 시인 '김소월'이란 테마를 만나기에 이른다. 시인 김소월은 우리나라를 대표하는 서정시의 거장이다. 이후 김소월의 작품은 작사가 박창학과 작곡가 박지만의 인연을 우연이 아닌 필연적인 만남으로 연결해주는 매개체가 된다. 한 곡 한 곡에 공을 들여 다듬어진 총 13곡과 새롭게 만들어진 1곡. 여기에 두 사람의 음악적 친구들이 고마운 목소리를 더했다. 윤상, 정순용(마이앤트메리), 하림, 김정화, 정진하, 김태형, 안신애, 이지영(빅마마), 정재일, 이한철, 융진(캐스커), 조원선. 그렇게 완성된 14곡은 이제 [그 사람에게]라는 이름으로 한 장의 앨범이, 한 권의 시집이 되었다.

그러나 '거장'이라는 호칭과는 달리 그의 작품들은 여성성을 상징하는 여린 시구와 인간의 내면이 담아둘 수 있는 가장 밑바닥의, 가장 오염되지 않은, 침전물 없이 있는 그대로의 한을 정리된 운율로 침착하고 가냘프게 표현한다. 사람이 생을 통하여 느끼는 극히 보편적인 정서인 '사랑'과 '그리움'은 김소월이 어떤 시인인지를 가장 잘 보여주는 테마이다.

또한 많이 알려지진 않았지만 김소월의 본명은 김정식으로 그의 호 소월은 한자로 '흰 소' '달 월'을 뜻한다. 즉 이것은 '하얀 달'을 가리키는데 문학에서 '하얀 달'이란 순결, 순수, 애착을 상징하며 이는 '시인 김소월'을 대변하는 아이콘이기도 하다. 김소월의 대표작 중 <진달래꽃> <님의 말씀> <초혼> 등에 시인의 그러한 정서들은 잘 드러나 있으며 이로써 김소월의 문학이 왜 '부끄러움의 미학'이라고도 해석되는지를 쉽게 이해 할 수 있다.

소월의 시는 나에게 있어서 우리말로 된 시가 만들어 낼 수 있는 가장 완벽한 세계를 보여주는 교과서와도 같다. 또 그의 시 대부분이 인생의 가장 보편적인 정서인 사랑과 그리움을 노래하고 있다는 점 그리고 늘 아름다운 운율을 바탕에 깔고 있다는 점에서 언제나 내게 들리지 않는 아름다운 노래를 상상하게 한다. <박창학>
