From their debut song 'Momo Mo' to their first full-length album 'Happy', WJSN has portrayed the growth of a girl who suffers from the fever of love. WJSN, who experienced pure first love in her youth with her debut song 'Momo Mo' in February 2016, realized the feelings of unrequited love with 'It's a Secret' released in August of that year. Then, in January, I fell in love with fate with 'Hope to reach you'. And in June 2017, Cosmic Girls finally realize love and feel happiness. Cosmic Girls, who have mainly sung lyrical songs with thrilling emotions, have become a little more lively with 'HAPPY'. 소녀들이 가장 행복한 순간은 언제일까. 사랑을 막 시작하는 그 찰나의 순간 아닐까. 세상의 모든 사물이 예뻐 보이고, 가만히 있어도 입가에 웃음이 번지고 콧노래가 절로 나오는 그 순수하고도 맑은 시간들. 처음 느낀 감정에 벅차다가도 더 예뻐지고 싶은 마음에 괜히 거울을 한 번 더 쳐다보는 모습들은 학창시절 누구나 한 번씩 겪었을 법한 예쁜 이야기다. 우주소녀가 예쁜 이야기를 사랑스러움 가득 담은 ‘HAPPY(해피)’로 노래한다.

우주소녀는 데뷔곡 ‘모모모’부터 첫 정규앨범 ‘해피’까지 사랑의 열병을 겪는 소녀의 성장을 그려 왔다. 2016년 2월 데뷔곡 ‘모모모’로 풋풋한 시절 순수했던 첫사랑을 겪은 우주소녀는 그 해 8월 발표한 ‘비밀이야’로 짝사랑의 감정을 깨달았다. 이어 지난 1월 ‘너에게 닿기를’로 운명적인 사랑에 빠졌다. 그리고 2017년 6월, 우주소녀는 비로소 사랑을 깨닫고 행복을 느낀다. 그 동안 두근거리는 설렘의 감정으로 서정적인 노래를 주로 들려줬던 우주소녀는 ‘HAPPY(해피)’에서 조금 더 발랄해졌다. 지금까지 수줍게 키워왔던 사랑의 열매들이 싱그러운 비주얼과 상큼한 멜로디 위에 톡톡 터진다. 우주소녀만이 표현할 수 있는 성장의 결실이다.

타이틀곡 ‘HAPPY(해피)’는 세계적으로 유행인 댄스홀 비트가 가미된 댄스곡으로 사랑에 빠진 소녀의 행복한 감정을 고스란히 표현하는 곡. “강아지 이름 인줄 알았던 Happy 이제야 알 것 같아”, “남들이 보고 내가 참 많이 변했대요”라며 행복하고 설렌 감정을 솔직하게 담았다. 또래 소녀들이 표현할 수 있는 예쁜 모습과 싱그러운 감성으로 공감대를 형성했다.

뮤직비디오는 우주소녀의 밝고 생동감 넘치는 모습을 극대화했다. 학창시절 소녀들이 즐겨 했던 운동인 피구 경기를 테마로 우주소녀의 행복하고 사랑스러운 모습을 담았다. 피구 대회를 우승하기 위해 구슬땀을 흘리며 트레이닝을 하고 결국 우승 트로피를 들어 올리는 모습은 치열한 연습생 시절을 거쳐 정규 앨범을 발표하는 우주소녀의 성장기와 맞닿아 있다.

이번 앨범에는 씨스타, 트와이스 등과 작업한 히트메이커 블랙아이드필승을 비롯해 화려한 작곡진을 자랑한다. 블랙아이드필승이 타이틀곡 ‘HAPPY(해피)’에 참여했고, ‘비밀이야’로 호흡을 맞췄던 e.one, 트와이스 ‘KNOCK KNOCK’을 만든 작곡가 심은지, 소녀시대 ‘Gee’ 작곡가 이트라이브 등 검증된 프로듀서들이 우주소녀의 첫 정규 앨범의 완성도를 높였다. 엑시는 10곡 중 6곡을 랩메이킹해 음악적 면모를 보였다.

그 동안 남다른 스토리텔링을 펼쳐온 우주소녀는 첫 정규 앨범으로 소녀들만의 해피엔딩을 만들었다. 우주소녀는 지난 5월 19~20일 데뷔 첫 단독 콘서트를 개최하면 첫 번째 행복의 순간을 만끽했다. 6월 7일, 첫 정규 앨범으로 첫 번째 성장 스토리텔링 완성했다. 이제 대중이 우주소녀의 행복한 에너지를 만끽할 차례다.
