Buzz's 2nd mini album “15”

Buzz has returned with the album '15', which has a dual meaning in commemoration of the 15th anniversary of their debut, along with the meaning that when five like one unite, they become a band Buzz. If you look at the five songs in the album, you can feel the Buzz's recent move, which places more importance on communication with fans. They do not abandon the identity of Buzz that fans want while maintaining their full musical skills.

It feels like a gift of gratitude to the fans who have experienced joy and tears together over the past 15 years. There is no hard rock sound or dreamy modern rock sound that was shown in the mini-album 'Be One' released a year ago. Instead, they packed a mini-album with 5 songs centered on emotional rock ballads. Although all 5 songs were composed by Buzz, the fact that the lyrics were commissioned by several lyricists is a part that can be interpreted in the same context.

Although the sound was not emphasized, the band Buzz's musical prowess can be found throughout the album. Min Kyung-hoon's vocals, which show strong masculinity and serious immersion, still stand out, and the members' stable performance, which goes back and forth between proficiency and flamboyance, fills the gap between the keyboard and strings, literally confirming its value as a 'Rock' ballad. The album contains three rock ballads and two funky rock style songs, and the rock ballad number 'Chuck' was chosen as the title track.

The title song 'Chuck' is a typical buzz-style rock ballad. String sounds stimulate emotions of sadness, and Min Kyung-hun's appealing vocals lead a dramatic story, followed by a guitar solo. It seems to be a good gift for fans who have loved Buzz.

'Your Name', which opens the album's door, is attractive in the process of bursting out emotions. Although he calmly caresses his sorrow with his plain guitar sound and understated vocals, Min Kyung-hoon's vocal bursts with the guitar sound in the second half is enough to burst the fans' emotions together.

'Don Quixote', which is located in the center of the album, is a song that imprints the bass sound, and you can see the stable performance of the band Buzz. Min Kyung-hoon's rugged and masculine vocals, which can even feel retro, go well with the lyrics of Don Quixote.

The charm of the band Buzz, 'There is only you', is evident. The organic excitement created through the sum of the bands makes Buzz stand out as a band. Just like 'Don Quixote', Min Kyung-hoon's vocals, which are filled with masculinity and are roughly pulled out, are impressive.

하나와 같은 다섯이 뭉쳤을 때 비로소 밴드 버즈가 된다는 의미와 함께 데뷔 15주년을 기념한 중의적인 의미를 담은 앨범 ‘15’로 버즈가 돌아왔다. 앨범에 담긴 다섯 곡을 보면 팬들과의 소통을 더 중시하는 버즈의 최근 행보를 그대로 느낄 수 있다. 꽉 찬 자신들의 음악적 내공을 살리면서도 팬들이 원하는 버즈의 정체성을 버리지 않는다.

15년을 함께하며 환희와 눈물을 같이 경험했던 팬들에게 전하는 감사의 선물 같은 느낌이다. 1년전 발매한 ‘Be One’ 미니앨범에서 보여준 하드록 사운드나 몽환적인 모던록 사운드는 찾아볼 수 없다. 대신 감성적인 록발라드 중심으로 5곡이 수록된 미니앨범을 꾸렸다. 5곡 모두 버즈가 작곡했지만 가사는 여러 작사가들에게 의뢰한 점도 같은 맥락으로 해석할 수 있는 대목이다.

사운드에 방점을 찍지는 않았지만 밴드 버즈의 음악적 내공은 앨범 곳곳에서 확인할 수 있다. 강한 남성미와 진지한 몰입을 보여주는 민경훈의 보컬은 여전히 두드러지며, 능숙함과 현란함을 오가는 멤버들의 안정적인 연주력은 건반과 스트링 사이를 꽉꽉 채우며 말 그대로 ‘Rock’ 발라드로서의 가치를 확인시킨다. 앨범에는 3곡의 록발라드와 두 곡의 훵키록 스타일 곡이 수록되었으며, 록발라드 넘버 ‘척’이 타이틀곡으로 낙점되었다.

타이틀곡 ‘척’은 전형적인 버즈 스타일의 록발라드곡이다. 현악 사운드가 슬픔의 감성을 자극하고, 민경훈의 호소력 있는 보컬이 드라마틱한 스토리를 이끈 뒤 기타 솔로가 터져 나온다. 버즈를 사랑해 온 팬들에게 좋은 선물이 될 법하다.

앨범의 문을 여는 ‘너의 이름은’은 감성을 터뜨리는 과정이 매력적이다. 담백한 기타 사운드와 절제된 보컬로 차분하게 슬픔을 어루만지지만 후반부 기타사운드와 함께 터뜨리는 민경훈의 보컬은 팬들의 감성을 함께 터뜨리기 충분하다.

앨범의 센터에 자리한 ‘돈키호테’는 베이스 사운드가 각인되는 곡으로 밴드 버즈의 안정적인 연주력을 확인할 수 있다. 복고의 느낌까지 받을 수 있는 민경훈의 투박하고 남성미 넘치는 보컬이 돈키호테 가사와 잘 어울린다.

‘너밖에 없다’는 밴드 버즈의 매력이 물씬 묻어난다. 밴드의 합을 통해 만들어 내는 유기적인 흥겨움은 밴드로서의 버즈를 돋보이게 한다. ‘돈키호테’와 마찬가지로 남성미를 가득 담아 거칠게 뽑아내는 민경훈의 보컬이 인상적이다.

마지막곡 ‘손깍지’ 역시 버즈 팬들의 호응을 이끌어 낼 록발라드곡. 격정으로 풀어낸 다른 록발라드 곡들과 달리 보컬의 강약과 바이브레이션으로 감정을 소소하게 자극하며 차분하게 앨범의 문을 닫는다.
