Chungha 4th Mini Album [Flourishing]
The theme of this album is change and growth. The title of the album, Flourishing, expresses the various emotions that exist within me, from the dictionary meaning of the word to confidence, to the anxiety and fear behind trying to converge to the present.
The fixed form of the previous work was transformed to create a new musical flow. Trap soul, Latin, R&B, and refreshing medium tempo songs, genre changes and various attempts are included in this album.


Album Review

01. Chica
The resonance of the Latin guitar that fills the space from the beginning makes you guess the color of this song. It is a blend of Latin and electronic music that allows you to dance hotly like a fire burning in the sun.
It contains conversations with myself that I, who have grown up, gave to me as a young girl, and it is also a cheering song that I, who have grown up through difficult times, send to everyone.

02. We are happy
The second song that Yerin gave me as a gift, 'We Have Fun'. At the time of recording, while deciding the key for the song, I gave the opinion that it would be nice to sing it a little more comfortably than the existing songs with a lot of high notes, so the song was completed with a light and bright feeling.
It's also a bright medium tempo song that I'm trying out for the first time, and I hope this bright mood is conveyed to everyone like going on a picnic on a sunny day.

03. Call It Love
It is a song that feels warm and dreamy at the same time as the sound of various musical instruments with a moist texture is added to the calm piano sound that surrounds the space. I admitted that letting go of my heart is also love, and calmly released my feelings.
It is a song that is placed on the boundary between memories and love, like the feeling of wanting to go back to the days of crying under a small light.

04. Flourishing
Passing through the vague starting point, the lyrics contain the emotions of the two years since his solo debut. I wrote Flourishing about my desire to continue to grow and the time to find the color that suits me by painting various colors on the canvas. And this song became the title of the album.
It is a song of the trap soul genre that is being tried for the first time, and you can see the vocal expansion of the change, from the flowing rhythm to the rough ad-lib.

05.Snapping
At the end of the love that is not clear after a breakup, the desire to return to the beginning begins to react to the weak side of the other person that is reflected only when it reaches the end of the relationship. I empty my mind as if casting a spell by snapping my fingers, covering my eyes and throwing away my exhausted mind, greeting a new morning after midnight.
The dynamic arrangement that expands from the relaxed groove of the verse to the chorus is impressive. You can feel the colorful and deeper music than before.

이번 앨범의 주제는 변화와 성장입니다. 앨범의 제목인 Flourishing은 단어가 가지고 있는 사전적 의미의 자신감과 현재에 계속 수렴하려고 하는 이면의 불안함, 두려움까지 제 안의 존재하는 여러 감정을 표현하고 있습니다.
전작의 고정되어있는 형태에 변형을 주어 음악적인 흐름을 새롭게 구성하였습니다. 트랩소울, 라틴, R&B, 청량한 미디엄 템포 곡까지 장르적인 변화와 다양한 시도를 이번 앨범에 담았습니다.


Album Review

01. Chica
도입부부터 공간을 채우는 라틴 기타의 울림은 이 곡의 색감을 짐작하게 한다. 태양을 머금고 피어오르는 불처럼 뜨겁게 춤을 출 수 있는 라틴과 일렉트로닉이 블렌딩된 곡이다.
소녀였던 나에게 성장한 내가 건네는 자신과의 대화를 담았는데, 힘든 시간을 지나 성장한 내가 모두에게 보내는 응원가이기도 하다.

02. 우리가 즐거워
예린이가 선물해준 두 번째 곡, ‘우리가 즐거워’. 녹음 당시 노래의 키를 정하면서 고음이 많았던 기존 곡들보다는 조금 더 편안하게 부르는 기분이었으면 좋겠다는 의견을 주어서 가볍고 밝은 느낌으로 완성된 곡이다.
처음 시도하는 밝은 미디엄 템포 곡이기도 한데, 화창한 어느 날 소풍 가듯 모두에게 이 밝은 기분이 전달되면 좋겠다.

03. Call It Love
공간을 감싸는 담담한 피아노 소리에 촉촉한 질감의 여러 악기 소리가 더해져 따뜻함과 동시에 몽환적인 분위기가 느껴지는 곡이다. 마음을 놓아주는 것 역시 사랑이라고 인정하며 차분하게 감정을 풀어 내보았다.
작은 조명 아래 울먹이던 나날로 가끔은 돌아가고 싶은 감정처럼 추억과 사랑의 경계선 위에 놓인 곡이다.

04. Flourishing
막연했던 시작점을 지나 솔로 데뷔 이후 2년이란 시간 동안의 감정을 가사에 담았다. 캔버스에 여러 색을 칠 해보며 내게 맞는 색을 찾기 위한 시간, 계속 성장하고 싶은 바람을 Flourishing에 써 내려갔다. 그리고 이 곡은 앨범의 제목이 되었다.
처음 시도하는 트랩 소울 장르의 곡으로 유려한 리듬과 거친 애드리브까지 보컬적으로 확장된 변화의 모습을 볼 수 있다.

05. Snapping
이별 후 개운치 않은 사랑의 끝자락, 다시 처음으로 돌리고 싶은 마음은 관계의 종료 직전에 다다라서야 비치는 상대의 약한 모습에 반응하기 시작한다. 나는 손가락을 튕겨 주문을 걸듯 마음을 비워, 눈을 가리고 지친 마음을 던지며 자정이 지나고 새로운 아침을 맞이한다.
벌스의 여유로운 그루브에서 코러스에 가까워질수록 확장되는 역동적인 편곡이 인상적이다. 이전보다 화려하고 깊어진 음악을 느낄 수 있다.
