Description (Translated):
In February of last year, the Drinking Boys and Girls Choir went on a two-week European tour. During the tour, COVID-19 occurred. I thought it would calm down quickly, but the pandemic spread to the world, and most of the performances were canceled and postponed. The Drinking Boys and Girls Choir decided to work on a new album now that everything has stopped. It was a new experience to create new songs and work on an album in a limited time, unlike the first album, which contained songs that had been accumulated over the years of forming a band. I was greatly inspired by two books, 'Sister, will you marry me?' and 'The right not to be lonely'. The Living Partner Act and same-sex marriage, the sex crimes that made us very angry, and the weak punishment for them, nevertheless, we were faithful to the emotions we feel living in the present. With the new sense of happiness and security I felt in my 30s, I felt like I could start talking about things that are being forced or forced to ignore the facts, and things that are discriminated against because of laws, systems, and social awareness. The Drinking Boys and Girls Choir's 2nd album [Marriage License] tells the story of a woman in her 30s who is an office worker and a punk rocker. I tried to talk about discrimination and hatred against women and queers represented by the institution of marriage, a society that is harsh on others who deviate from norms and normality, and why it is discriminatory for some people even though it should be something anyone can easily do. The Drinking Boys and Girls Choir gets angry at the world that does not change easily, and although they are anxious, they believe that it will definitely be a good world that we want, and sing that let's live well with hope.
The 2nd album [Marriage License] with 11 songs is still short, fast and powerful. In punk fashion, they start, run, and stop. The bpm 230 song “Odoby,” which appears after the album’s intro song “Endless Night,” represents the overall sentiment of the second album. This song, which contains the painful experiences of the biker members, is bright and upbeat. “Because I am a small woman, I am worried about riding a small and light 'motorcycle', and even though I had a big accident, I am out of my mind! I hear a lot of stories about not riding 'motorcycle' for such reasons. However, the small 'motorbike' I chose because I was comfortable with it changed from a means of transportation to one that reveals my identity after the accident. I want to stubbornly prove that my choice was not wrong. The prevalence of minorities and the weak in our society is no different from this. Because few people are threatened and feared, they think that it is okay to treat them carelessly because they are invisible and their voices are so low. The socially underprivileged must be protected by society. The bad thing is the desire to feel petty power by intimidating minorities.” The title song “There Is No Spring” talks about the attitude of a punk rocker and office worker in his 30s. “I want to know more about myself, learn a little more about the world, pursue happiness in reality and be faithful to the present rather than daydreaming about a vague future. Realize that spring always returns, but not immediately after summer in full bloom.” “Attention” and “Hit The Corner” strongly express their anger over the blacklist for art and the Nth room incident with a sound close to hardcore punk. “Private Revenge,” which was also included in the women’s rock compilation [We, Do It Toegether], is a voice of solidarity for victims of sexual violence. The last track of the album, “Wish,” is a song completed with lyrics written based on the feeling of comfort I felt while listening to Kirara’s “Wish” in a moving car during an overseas tour. “I wrote this song with the hope that our friends who left us first for various unavoidable reasons, and all of us who are suffering in times of trouble, would just be happy and that our music would comfort someone, and we sang it as the last track of the album. do."
Drinking Boys and Girls Choir
Formed in 2013, the Daegu skate punk trio Drinking Boys and Girls Choir began their activities based on their shared love for skating, punk and drinking. After releasing their debut EP [We Are] in 2015, in February 2018, they released their first album [Keep Drinking], which contains 18 songs full of punk/indie rock vibes from the 90s. After going on a DIY tour in Indonesia in the summer of 2018, they signed contracts with Electric Muse in Korea and Damnably in England to release their regular album [KEEP DRINKING] worldwide in March 2019, participate in SXSW, the largest showcase festival in North America, and then perform in Liverpool. I went on a two-week UK tour, including Sound City and The Great Escape festivals. In the same year, he participated in the Busan International Rock Festival and the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival. Foreign media such as Stereogum, MTV US, Brookylnvegan, The 405, and The Quietus also published favorable articles about them. After the European tour in February 2020, those who released digital singles such as [Ok Bye/Start Again], [Linda Linda], and [I'll Confess] continue to be active with 2021 SXSW and Wales Goes Pop.

Description (Original):
Drinking Boys and Girls Choir
Stereogum, MTV US, Brookylnvegan, The 405, The Quietus
